Larry & Averie Alverson, Senior Pastor

History: Pastor Larry was born into an army family in Olympia, WA. His dad,
COL Bill Alverson, served in the Korean conflict and two tours of duty in Viet Nam.
Army life meant a lot of moves. Pastor Larry went to 13 schools for his first 12 grades
of school, living in several states and three years in Europe.

Pastor Larry finished high school in Kansas and went on to the University of Kansas,
where he majored in business. It was there that he met the two loves of his life.
First was Averie, who also graduated from KU with a business degree, and then a year
after they were married, Jesus Christ came into his life.

After graduation he served for four years as an officer in the U.S. Army with the
82nd Airborne Division in Ft. Bragg, NC, having completed airborne and Ranger school
to work as a a foreman and plant engineer with GM in Dayton, OH and then as a general
manager for an engineering firm.

An offer of employment in Grand Rapids caused the move North, where he became the V.P. of manufacturing for a GR company and served as an elder, small group leader and single adult ministry leader for Grand Rapids First Assembly. In 1983, Pastor Larry answered the call of God to full-time ministry and served for the next 18 years on the staff of the church. It was in February of 2002 that God confirmed His call on the Alverson's to make the move to Trinity.

Averie, is a native Michigander, growing up in Grand Rapids. In addition to her responsibilities as the Senior Pastor's wife, she directs the Woman's Ministries at Trinity. Larry & Averie have two grown children, Bill works as a mortgage broker in Grand Rapids, and Betsy is enrolled at North Central University.

In addition to being deeply in love with each other and the Lord, they have fallen hard for the Trinity family, and look forward to many productive years together, as we reach our city for God.
